We swung past Grease Monkey in Braddon to check out how their recycled timber furniture was settling in 12 months after opening. Naturally we also had a few craft beers and some burgers!
These guys have done an amazing job with the venue, converting an old mechanics garage into a great space for eating burgers and fried chicken.
Grease Monkey came to Thor’s Hammer with a detailed brief for their furniture, they had a very specific look in mind, but also needed it to be super durable. Grease Monkey is a busy venue and we are happy to say the recycled timber furniture is looking great 12 months on!
Thor's Hammer has been building commercial furniture using recycled timber for over 20 years. We understand furniture in pubs and bars is subject to extremely heavy use, we build to last in this environment.
The booth seating at Grease Monkey is made from Oregon recycled from the Kingston Printing Workshops.
The outdoor tables are built in recycled Blackbutt, salvaged by Thor’s Hammer from building demolitions in Sydney, lightly dressed to keep the dark, weathered look.
The DJ Cart was a fun project for us, built in a mixture of recycled Oregon, Baltic Pine and Blackbutt salvaged from various demolitions on the Australian East Coast. We even managed to wrangle some wooden wheels! (And yes they work!)
We were stoked to see Grease Monkey supporting independently owned breweries on all their beer taps, many delicious ales to be sampled, lucky we took the bike!
If you need some commercial furniture built right here in Canberra using recycled timber, give us a bell.
